Summary

A member of an ancient witch clan and possessing powers beyond the comprehension of mere mortals, Bayonetta faces-off against countless angelic enemies, many reaching epic proportions, in a game of 100% pure, unadulterated all-out action. Outlandish finishing moves are performed with balletic grace as Bayonetta flows from one fight to another. With magnificent over-the-top action taking place in stages that are a veritable theme park of exciting attractions, Bayonetta pushes the limits of the action genre, bringing to life its fast-paced, dynamic climax combat.

What a ride. I'll be the first to admit I really enjoyed the story despite not understanding what was happening, almost at all. I honestly don't think the story is all that important in the long run. I mean, you're a sexy witch with guns fighting monsters and trying to recover your memory, that's all you really need to know. I liked the story arc of Luka as a character, and while I don't quite understand how little Cereza got there, she's absolutely adorable.

I do have to get into some unfortunate territory though, and that's the award system. Basically, it's horrendous. Each chapter is split into separate verses on which you get individual grades (Platinum, gold, silver, etc.) with stone being the worst. These contribute to your overall chapter grade. Not only does dying significantly hurt your score, (which can be as simple as missing a QTE) taking damage, taking too long, and missing OPTIONAL verses also drastically bring down your score. The truly unforgivable thing, however, is that using items that you purchased with points you earned BRINGS YOUR CHAPTER SCORE DOWN! Like why? Why bother earning points and buying items if I'm penalized for using them? All of this to say, I played the game on Normal (the hardest you can choose on your first playthrough) and got exclusively stone awards apart from 1 gold on the prologue. I felt like a did really good most of the time, and got the worst possible grade on almost every level, on normal. Bad system.

All in all, I did enjoy myself. I'm surprised, but enthused, that Sega (and now Nintendo) allowed Bayonetta to be so overtly and unapologetically sexual. Extremely rare Nintendo W. I would absolutely recommend this game to anyone, just get used to the idea of stone trophies.

Well I'm not gonna lie. That cover is the reason I tried the game. Then I saw it's very similar to Devil May Cry games. The game is a hack and slash genre, you go through levels and upgrade the main protagonist.Bayonetta as the character was the highlight of the whole game, they don't make such provocative characters like these anymore.Level design looks great, controls were nice for the most part.Throughout this one,you are introduced to Rodin who is the main guy for weapons and items.Boss fights outside Jeanne were not that interesting, because I don't find giant angels enemies that interesting, wished there were more human fights like the one with Jeanne.Game starts ok then it becomes more and more difficult. There are variety of weapons like swords, guns and in later levels even more powerful op wepaons.A lot of combos you can do,witch time is the best ability.Story was fine, not great or anything, but fine.Characters have some depth and they are likeable for the most part, and soundtrack is meh.It was a good game, but critics made it overrated,a 90 on metacritic? You can't give the game a 90 just because the main protagonist looks good, the gameplay is what should make the game have big score. But yeah 7.5 is more than enough for what game had to offer.

Fly me to the moon, because some of the controls in this game make me want to implode in space.
Great vibe tho. I'd kiss Luka on the lips.
