Summary

London, 1868. The Industrial Revolution unleashes an incredible age of invention, transforming the lives of millions with technologies once thought impossible. Opportunities created during this period have people rushing to London to engage in this new world, a world no longer controlled by kings, emperors, politicians, or religion, but by a new common denominator: money. Not everyone is able to enjoy the benefits of this boom, however. Despite fueling the engine of the British Empire, workers’ lives are little more than legalized slavery while the top few percent profit from their labor. Living poor and dying young, the lower class unite in protest as a new kind of family, gangs, who turn to a life in the underworld in their struggle to survive. A struggle, until watchful Assassins come to their side and re-ignite an age-old conflict involving London’s leaders that will echo throughout modern history, from the underground up. Introducing Jacob Frye, who with the help of his twin sister Evie, will change the fate of millions in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Rise to rally and lead the underworld to break the corrupt stranglehold on London in a visceral adventure filled with action, intrigue, and brutal combat.

I'm not sure I can really explain this one.

This game is really stupid and silly and ridiculous and dumb. But also it rules? I don't know. Proto Spiderman zipping around in London in the goofiest storyline with funny British people saying funny British stuff and using funny weapons like knuckle dusters and cane-swords.

This feels like I shouldn't like it because of how much I hated Unity but somehow this game is just smoother? Controls in climbing and combat are just less sluggish and everything feels more responsive. The world is really visually impressive too without all the annoying lens flare of Unity. Biggest gripe is probably really just that Evie feels at times sidelined in the main missions, with Jacob getting a lot of the attention/assassination missions, but it really feels like this is supposed to be Evie's story.

I could probably go more in depth on this but this is one of the best in the franchise and my main way of proving that is I actually actively wanted to play additional missions and shit which is generally not the case with me and Assassin's Creed. Color me surprised with how much I enjoyed this one.

Lack of weapon variety. Simplistic combat and stealth. Frustrating RPG stat implementation. Jacob and Evie aren't differentiated enough in gameplay. Great atmosphere and character dynamics.

Not horrible, but I couldn't tell you anything about the story other than it has two main characters, they live in London, and you kill people. I enjoyed playing Evie more than Jacob, but that's all I can really say about this game.

wow... what a great game! this is definitely my favourite ac of the old series before gdr ones. I didn't feel this excited since ac III tbh... the story was compelling, you really felt like you're doing the right thing for the right cause. the twins are very different and use opposite ways to reach the same goal, the final mission was really satisfying and touching for their arc. side activities and quests are so much fun and very different from previous ones. everything from the combat to exploring was so enjoyable it genuinely made me want to platinum the game which i didn't with a lot of the others. combat is a pro of the game it has a lot of weapons and combos, while before it was so painful, repetitive and boring to fight now it's so satisfying and not frustrating with different animations too. stealth has improved so much, you have a lot of tools and ways to kill enemy without getting caught i really felt like an assassin for the first time. the grappling hook was the best addition they could make... it made everything smoother and faster, very useful. carriages were the cherry on top, you really felt the victorian atmosphere around you exploring this beautiful colorful london which i didn't expect. it was awesome to some sort of a family with the allies and the rooks who will always help you. the storyline in the present at least has some bigger role finally nothing major but it's not completely thrown away, i loved seeing shaun and rebecca in action again. the simulation of ww1 was so cool and interesting too, this game is a gift that kept on giving each time with the memories of other historical figures. i wished evie had more space in the main quests because a lot of them are jacob's, but at leat you can switch anytime in the open world. I can't even explain how much I loved this game, i grew affectionate for the character, I didn't want it to end... this is a feeling I don't have often!

Replaying this game, love the world design and parkour. Victorian London looks stunning. I do prefer Evie over Jacob and the combat does feel a bit lacklustre in comparison with other games in the franchise. I also do wish the story was a bit more engaging.
